Help Takotna

Beowulf needs our help!!!

Sasha has received a new name for her new life -- she is now Takotna, after the small native village in Alaska. When tumors on her eye and on her back hip burst open at the shelter, a dozen or more people came together to get her the medical help she needed. She had surgery on March 4 to remove what was left of both growths. Her one eye will probably not open as much as the other one, but she can see and doesn't feel miserable anymore. On Wednesday, she was transported over 100 miles to the temporary foster home where she will recover from her ordeals. Despite going through so much, she was sweet and gave her transporters kisses!

Norsled has taken this wonderful girl under our wing. We still need lots of help with her medical bills.
Her surgery alone was over $1000 and she still lacks a permanent home, or at least a longer-term foster home. As of this writing, we are awaiting the results of her biopsy which will help us determine exactly what else she needs.

After spending an hour with her, I was completely in love. I cannot imagine how anyone could dump such a sweet and beautiful dog, especially one with such medical problems, into the night drop box at a shelter, after she gave love for years. Some fool gave up a great dog without a fight; please help us fight for her life and her well-being. You can make donations through paypal or by sending a check payable to "Norsled" to PO Box 5784, Vallejo CA 94591. Earmark it "Takotna" or "Polo Fund." Thank you!

What's New!!

Northern California Sled Dog Rescue Logo

Thank You!

2007 was a record year for NorSled, with more adoptions than ever before. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who helped us. Over the holidays NorSled held 4 Photos with Santa events at different Pet Food Expresses - thanks to the help of all the PFE staff. In addition, East Bay Mitsubishi hosted an adoption fair for us where we sent a record for the number of adoptions at one event - and even presented NorSled with a check for $250!

Thanks to all who donated to NorSled, participated in our Photos with Santa, provided discounted vet services or kenneling. And a special thanks to all the volunteers.

Here's to a wonderfu 2008!

How You Can Help

Siberian Husky DogRescuing Nordic Breed dogs can be expensive. Many come to us needing medical attention, some need behavioral training, and most need attention and love to get ready to go to their forever homes. We are always looking for foster homes, shelter monitors and people to help with adoption fairs and fundraising. The main requirements are a good sense of humor and extreme tolerance of dog hair!

To contact us about membership information and volunteer opportunities, send an email to rescue@NorSled.org. If you would like to make a donation to NorSled, click on How to Help. Or go to your favorite shopping sites by way of our Shopping Links. NorSled receives a donation from the merchant for any purchases you make through this page.
